In February 2022, ANUKA became a Certified B Corporation business with an impressive score of 108.3.

It was a year-long, rigorous process that examined everything from our suppliers and materials, to the environmental and social standards of the business and it’s supply chain. To achieve this certification is a significant milestone.

In the UK jewellery industry, there are currently 8 B Corp certified businesses. We are the fifth jewellery label to achieve this status and the second highest scoring brand, which is not only such an achievement, but confirmation of our commitment to people and the planet.

What is B Corp?

B Corps are businesses that meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

To put it simply, certified B Corp companies are corporations that use business as a force for good.

It is an evaluation of a company's global impact and the only certification that measures a company’s entire social and environmental performance.

Our score 

Our B Corp score is 108.3.

To put that into context, most industry scores tend to land within the 80’s, 80 being the minimum requirement for certification. We are massively proud of this!

Why it's important?

Why? Because our planet is worth it.

It’s been important to me since starting ANUKA to learn more about my industry and the impact I was having. 

Sourcing and making with better materials, whether that’s through 100% recycled silver or Fairmined gold, has been a focus from early on. But a constant challenge has been to verify my authenticity as a company in an industry that is notorious for keeping quiet or greenwashing at a basic level. 

Being a Certified B Corporation business is proof that we are legally and morally committed to prioritising our responsibility to the environment and society.

We join a growing group of companies that are reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit, which only seems right when I am making a living from the resources taken from our earth.

 

Is it just another certificate?

It is so much more. 

What sets B Corp apart from other sustainability certifications is the accountability that comes with it.

As a B Corp Certified business, you are continually re-assessed and required to pass the recertification process every 3 years. 

It is far from a token certification, it is a commitment. It is legal accountability every step of the way. It’s about using business as a force for good.

 

Becoming B Corp Certified has been a business goal of mine for quite some time now and I am incredibly proud to achieve this status. It not only validates the efforts and hard work put into ANUKA, but enables us to keep improving whilst being recognised globally as a business that meets the highest standards of social and environmental impacts.
